Finally (Freaky) Friday!

Whoo hoo! It's finally Friday! And, better yet, it finally Freaky Food Friday! I haven't done one these for quite a while, so I think it's long over due for some weird and wonderful bites, don't you agree?

I have been saving these for quite some time--you know it's freaky food when Dustin practically gags at the sight. But that's also how you know it's delicious :)

I love brussels sprouts, and I love pickles, so it's only natural that I would want to try this fantastically freaky combination.

You know what else I love? GARLIC. So I had to get them for sure when I saw these little lovelies bobbing around in the jar!

I halfway expected these to be lightly soggy and mushy, but they were actually quite fresh and even crisp! They had the perfect gently sweet dill infusion with a light tang from the brine. So good! I haven't really thought of any way to use them in a main dish, but they do make the perfect accompaniment to any snack plate or sammie!
Speaking of freaky foods, don't forget to check out Kendal's super sweet guest post last Friday. She's had some awesome food adventures that are totally worth checking out.

Also, do doo da doo (trumpet)! I am headed to Arizona next week for work, which is not so exciting BUT I will have the chance to go to Trader Joe's to stock up on some awesome eats!! Yay! I am so excited! On my list to get already: pita puffs, chocolate chips and salsa!

Tell me what else I should keep an eye out for while I'm there! I would LOVE to hear your favorite TJ's stuff--I know you all will have the perfect recommendations! Don't worry, I'm leaving plenty of room in my suitcase!

Have a wonderful weekend, and Happy Valentine's Day!! xoxo

  3. Haha, that's way too freaky for me, I'll stick with roasted bsprouts! Tj's!! Um check out the hummus, flowers, and fruit, but for air plane takehomes: raw crunchy unsalted almond butter, smoothe roasted ab, uncrystalized dried Ginger, no sugar dried mango and blueberries, bottles of curry, and the supercheap beer (it's red and white, don't remember the name). Anyways, that's our standing tj list! :)

  5. Those sound interesting! I have had pickled eggs before (YUCK) and pickled peppers... I just like pickles, pickled beets and pickled cabbage. Oh, and onions!

TJ's- pumpkin granola, the small country morning muffins (or whatever they are called- all the baked goods are delish, but freeze straightaway!), mini cinnamon pastry twists, trail mix, chocolate covered peanut butter stuffed pretzels... :D OOOOOOH and see if they have the PBJ chocolate bar. I haven't tried it but it sounds awesome.

  10. We didn't do anything for V-day...painted the bedroom and cooked for the in-laws. Mallard bought me an ipod that I love. I think I would like those Brussel Sprouts. I like Brussel Sprouts and Pickles so why not?

  11. Some of my favorites from TJs: Peanut butter crunchy granola bars, nut butters, Honeymoon wine, and their sprouted wheat bread (it's in the pink packaging, of course). Can't wait to see what you buy!

  12. Hahaha, I love how you used Dustin as you way to judge whether food is freaky or not :P Pickled brussels sound amazing!! Okay, so this may not be a healthy way to eat them, but have you ever tried deep-fried pickles before? Maybe they'd taste good battered?

Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I have to admit I haven't sent out your package yet...but it's happening THIS week :)

  14. I LOVE TJ's chocolate chip meringues, marsala simmer sauce, apple cranberry chutney, pineapple salsa, canned corn (my husband swears it's the freshest he's ever had) and New Zealand apple rings. Ours also carries Better N' Peanut Butter so I stock up there!
